The contest

01

Categories

01

Painting

Oil & acrylic. Matter and colour. The slow and the impulsive coexisting on a surface where the pigment still seems to breathe.

02

Watercolor

The water that decides. Transparency and the controlled accident —that part of the painting the artist can only accompany.

03

Typography

Letters as architecture. The voice that takes shape when the word, still silent, decides how it wants to be seen.

04

Sketching

The quick eye. The note taken from life, the unfinished that pulses precisely because it didn't stop to finish itself.

05

Engraving

Patience turned into a groove. The material lets itself be wounded so that, once it receives the ink, it gives back an image no screen knows how to imitate.

06

Photography

Captured light. The instant that refuses to vanish and stays to live inside a rectangle.

More than prizes

At cromAwards our focus is your artistic career; that is why we build every tool with that philosophy in mind. We keep developing new features that, ultimately, help artists in their search for projects.

Taking part doesn't cost you your rights: your work stays 100% yours.

Award-winning artists exhibit on the official cromAwards site and receive:

A comment on every work (optional)

If you wish, each work receives a comment from the jury, whether or not it is awarded. It is entirely optional: when you enter you choose whether to receive it. Generating over 57,000 words of feedback on average each edition.

Certified diploma

Winners and finalists receive their certified diploma, instantly verifiable via QR and linked to their artist profile. No forgeable PDFs.

A verifiable credential

Your distinction —participant, finalist or winner— is no longer a PDF in a drawer: it is a credential anyone can confirm as genuine. What you win can be verified. In addition, every awarded and finalist artist has a portfolio on cromAwards: the credential gives access not only to your diplomas and mentions, but also to your works in our space. It is the prize that keeps working for you all year round: with galleries, clients or on your CV.

Frequently asked questions

How do I enter?

Fill in the entry form, choose how many works you are submitting and the category of each, and accept the rules, terms and privacy policy. After paying the fee you can upload your works. You can take part from any country.

How much does it cost to take part?

An entry fee is charged for each work, with a progressive discount: the more works you enter, the less you pay per work. The exact amount is calculated instantly in the form, and payment is made before you can upload your works.

Do I need to be a professional artist?

No. The contest is open both to professionals and to those who create as amateurs. What matters is the work.

Who can take part?

Artists and designers of any nationality who are of legal age. Members of the organising committee and the jury are excluded.

Can I submit more than one work?

Yes. Each artist may submit a maximum of five works and take part and win in one or several categories. You choose the category of each work when you upload it, and the more works you enter, the lower the fee per work.

What categories are there?

The number of categories is set by the organisation before each edition and may vary from one to the next. You can see the categories of the current edition in the “Categories” section; they cover disciplines such as graphic design, illustration, engraving, photography, typography, comic, manga, drawing and more.

What works can I submit?

Original works, conceived and created by you within the last 3 years. They need not be for sale or available for live exhibition. If the work incorporates third-party elements, you must hold the necessary authorisations: you are solely responsible for its originality.

What format and size must the files be?

Images in JPG or PNG format, between 1 MB and 15 MB. A single image is enough to take part, but make sure it is sharp and of good resolution so the jury can appreciate the details.

When and how do I upload the works?

Once payment is complete we take you straight to the upload page, and we also email you the link so you can come back whenever you like (check spam too). Bookmark that link: it is your access to your private area. The deadline closes at 23:59 (Spanish peninsular time) on the date indicated in the call.

Who evaluates the works?

A jury of specialists in Illustration, Design and Graphic Art, together with professionals from other fields of culture. Evaluation is blind: the jury scores each work without knowing the identity of its author. The decision of the jury is final, it may resolve prizes ex aequo and declare a prize void if the quality is not deemed sufficient. You can see their profiles in the “The jury” section.

What are the prizes?

In each category, the cromAwards prize is awarded to the Winner and up to 5 cromAwards Finalist distinctions, both with a certified diploma verifiable via QR. Winners also obtain promotion of their work on the website and social media, the sending of press releases, use of the cromAwards logo and a public portfolio on their verified artist profile.

Do I keep the rights to my work?

Yes. The ownership and authorship of your work always remain yours. By entering you only grant a free, non-exclusive licence for cromAwards to disseminate the selected, finalist and award-winning works for the promotional purposes of the contest. The details are in the Rules.

Will I receive a comment from the jury about my work?

If you want it, yes: when entering you choose whether to receive it (it comes enabled by default and is free of charge). Each work then receives an evaluation comment from the jury, whether or not it is awarded. Your choice does not affect the score or your chances of winning.

What is the verified artist profile?

Every artist with an entry gets their own page with a unique URL and code (CA-…): it gathers their edition history, their diplomas and certificates verifiable via QR and, for finalists and winners, their portfolio. It is permanent across editions and includes a credential you can add to your phone's wallet.

How can galleries contact me?

Only if you turn it on from your private area. You then appear in a directory visible only to galleries, curators and collectors accredited by the organisation, and all communication goes through the platform's messaging: your email is never shared, nobody can pester you (7-day rule) and you can close any conversation for good. Galleries never contact you directly, unless you want them to and share your contact details in the messages. No commissions.

I have lost my access link, what do I do?

On the entry page you will find the “Recover my access” option: type the email you entered with and we will resend your link. If it does not arrive, check spam or write to us at info@cromawards.com.
