Contest rules

Gextiona Interproducción, S.L. announces the First Edition of the cromAwards contest, whose aim is the discovery of new international talent, the dissemination of their work and rewarding the creative talent of the submitted works.

To this end, this call is made public in accordance with the following rules:

1. The contest is open to artists and designers of any nationality who are over 18 years of age. Each artist may submit a maximum of five works. Members of the organising committee and the jury are excluded from the call.
2. Participation entails payment of an entry fee for each work submitted, with a progressive discount based on the number of works. The fees in force for each edition are shown in the entry form on the official website (www.cromawards.com). Payment is made electronically, through the gateway provided on the Site, before works can be uploaded.
3. Works may be submitted to the categories the contest establishes for each edition, published on the official contest website (www.cromawards.com).
4. An artist may participate and win in one or several categories, and their works need not be available for sale or live exhibition to compete and win. They must be original, conceived and created by the participant within the last 3 years.
5. Proposals must indicate the title (if any) and the dimensions of the work, and may be signed, but must not include in the image a watermark, title, symbols or texts, unless these are part of it. Works may correspond to previous unpublished professional works, personal creations or works prepared ad hoc for this contest. For illustrations, up to three different images forming part of the same project may be submitted, considered as a single proposal.
6. Submitted works must be free of reproduction rights, with ownership and authorship rights remaining with the author. By submitting a work, the participant declares that it is an original work of their authorship, whose contents do not infringe third-party rights. If the work incorporates elements from third parties or from other images (artworks, photographs, images or fragments of any other work protected by intellectual property), the participant declares that they hold the corresponding authorisations and licences, obtained directly from their legitimate holders. In any case, the authors remain solely responsible for any of these situations.
7. Upon submitting the work, the participant authorises cromAwards, free of charge, the right of reproduction, dissemination, exhibition and public communication of the award-winning works through the channels it deems appropriate, exclusively for the promotional purposes of the contest and worldwide, with the author assuming full responsibility for any claim cromAwards may receive for the exhibition of the work.
8. All works must be sent before the date indicated in the calls published on the official cromAwards website (www.cromawards.com), at 23:59 (Spanish peninsular time, GMT+2), using the form provided on the contest website, indicating the participant's data and that of the submitted work, as well as the category entered. When participating as a team, the names of all its members must be indicated.
9. A list of the selected and finalist artists and works of each edition of the cromAwards contest will be published on the official contest page. One month later, the jury's decision will be notified and the list of winners published.
10. The jury will be made up of specialists in Illustration, Design and Graphic Art, and professionals from other fields of culture and artistic creation. The jury's decision is final and the prize may be declared void if the quality of the submitted works is not deemed sufficient, and some prizes may be resolved ex aequo.
11. A single cromAwards Prize is awarded per category and up to 5 cromAwards Finalist Prizes per category, both with a digitally verifiable certified diploma (QR). In addition, award-winning proposals will obtain:
    • Publication of their work on the cromAwards websites and social media, with a link to their contact.
    • Sending of press releases to the media and persons indicated by the author (max. 25).
    • Inclusion of the works in the organisation's press releases.
    • Assignment of the right to use the cromAwards logo, indicating the year and recognition obtained.
    • A public portfolio of their work on their verified cromAwards artist profile, together with the associated digital credential.
12. In compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016, and other applicable regulations, participants in any edition of the International cromAwards Contest authorise Gextiona Interproducción, S.L. to process their personal data for the purpose of managing their participation in the contest. They may exercise the rights recognised in the applicable data protection legislation by reliable notification via email to privacy@cromawards.com.
13. Gextiona Interproducción, S.L., as organiser of the contest, shall not be liable in the event of plagiarism or any injury, offence or infringement of the intellectual or industrial property rights in force in the countries in which the authors may incur. The contest organisation is also not responsible for any offence to beliefs, political opinions or any other that may arise from the publication of the works received, nor for any damage or loss of the published material.
14. Participating in this contest implies agreement with these rules, with the final decision and the interpretation of these rules being the exclusive competence of the Jury.

Typography category

It is essential to show all the basic characters contained in the font (uppercase, lowercase, numerals and basic signs). They must be original, although they may be typographic interpretations, in which case such references must be notified and explained. Digitisations or works derived from existing typefaces will not be accepted.

A brief description must be provided of the possible application of the font, the concept, the intention and how the family could expand. The alphabets must exist as digital fonts, even if not complete.

Image requirements

• Images are uploaded directly through the cromAwards website. Files must be between 1 MB and 15 MB and in JPG or PNG format.
• Several images of the same work may be included in each entry; for different works, a separate entry will be created for each one. Only one image is required to participate.
• Make sure they are good-quality images, not blurry, small or low-resolution: the jury members must be able to see the details of the work. If you do not have a high-resolution image of the whole, provide a detail image in addition to the full image.
• If the jury members have difficulty viewing the submission correctly, additional images or details may be requested. Crop from the main image everything that is not part of the work.

Additional provisions

Jury comment (optional). When registering, each participant chooses whether to receive the jury's assessment comment on their work. This option is enabled by default and can be unticked. If the participant chooses not to receive it, their work will still be scored by the jury for the purposes of the result, but no comment will be sent. The comment, when requested, is free and confidential.

Blind evaluation and author identity. The jury scores each work without knowing the identity of its author, ensuring an impartial result. If the participant provides a pseudonym when registering, it is that pseudonym —and not their real name— that will be published on the website, gallery, roll of honour and diplomas. The organiser keeps identifying and contact details for the sole purpose of running the contest and communicating results to award winners.

Jury incompatibility. Members of the jury of an edition may not submit works to that edition.
